Cutting Edge Design - STEM Bus
On Tuesday 13th January the STEM Bus came to Crumlin Integrated College for a fun filled day of Laser Cutting. Pupils from years 8, 9 and 10 all got to engage with activities that were centred around the use of CAD (Computer Aided Design) packages and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture) machinery. Each pupil had the chance to draw a game product on the computer software which was then cut out of acrylic plastic using one of the six laser cutting machines. This facility has not only helped to open our younger pupil’s eyes to the software and machinery that is currently available out in different industries but also to the opportunities a career in STEM could hold for them.
