Enjoying Friendship through Flowers

On 25 March, Crumlin Flower club held their annual charity event at Crumlin Integrated College.  Mrs Joan Lockhart, President of NIGFAS, used the theme of “The Floral Dance” to creatively produce floral displays which captivated the audience and took them on a journey around the world from South Africa to San Francisco….

The chosen charity this year was the Lisburn Branch of Parkinsons UK and a magnificent sum of £1,000 was presented at the end of the evening.  One of the members of the Lisburn Branch explained how this money would be used to enhance patient care in the Lisburn area and to support research.

Ryan Rea, Deputy Head Boy at the school also presented a cheque of £50 on behalf of the prefects who raised the money through the sale of raffle tickets for an Easter Hamper.

A light supper, courtesy of the ladies of the Flower Club and Tesco, Crumlin, was also very much appreciated.

Mrs Liz Williamson, President of the Club, was delighted at the support once again this year, and reminded everyone that May 1 is National Flower Arranging Day and in order to mark this occasion, floral displays made by the members will be distributed throughout the Crumlin community in order to bring colour and joy into the lives of many.

Anyone interested in joining the Flower club would be made very welcome.  The club meets in Crumlin Leisure Centre on the last Tuesday in every month.
