OUTSTANDING GCSE RESULTS MAINTAINED AT CRUMLIN INTEGRATED COLLEGE
This has been a very successful year for the college culminating in excellent GCSE results.
63% of our Year 12 pupils achieved 5 or more A*-C grades in their GCSE exams, exceeding last year’s results and this year’s school target.
There were many outstanding performances including last year’s head boy, Pierce Slaney, with a very impressive 4A* and 3 A Grades.
Pierce commented “ I couldn’t have done it without the support of the school and the brilliant teachers. The revision and blitz classes were extremely beneficial”.
Impressive results were attained in most departments, particularly:
Double Award Science
Single Award Science
Art and Design
who all achieved 100% A*-C grades.
One of the Year 12 parents commented, “I am over the moon. Reece has achieved 8 GCSE’s at grade C and higher. This is due to the high level of support and excellent teaching that he has received over the last five years.”
In March a Follow Up inspection upgraded the quality of education at the school to ‘Good’ and in July due to significant improvements, the school exited the formal intervention process.
The ETI commented favourably on the broad and balanced curriculum which is appropriate for the pupils ensuring that all subjects are being taught by specialists. The GCSE results, this year, are a testament to all of the hard work by the staff and support of parents. “Pupils are benefitting from the stability which has been created by the teachers and leaders, from effective working relationships at all levels and from the continuing focus on raising the standards of provision and improving outcomes”… ETI March 2014.
The Senior Leader, Mrs Lynda McGarry, expressed her delight and appreciation at the excellent results and how the school has, once again, sustained very pleasing results, “I wish our young people every success for the future; they leave Crumlin Integrated College in the knowledge that they received a top quality education.”
