Crumlin Integrated College recently appointed a new member of staff, Miss Sarah Patterson, to work with the pupils in raising attainment at Key Stage 3. This appointment was made in January following a successful application for a grant from the Ministry of Defence.
Miss Patterson is currently supporting teachers and pupils in raising levels of achievement in literacy and numeracy. She offers a programme which has been designed to support and facilitate each pupil to reach his/her full potential. Pupils involved in the programme are withdrawn from class in small cluster groups to receive extra help in literacy or numeracy or both.
Miss Patterson offers all students the opportunity to attend a free Homework Club. This aims to help pupils prioritise their homework over recreational activities, providing a supervised area for study where they can complete work with the help of an experienced teacher. The Homework Club runs every lunchtime and after school Tuesday (3.30-4.30pm) in C.I.C library, and Thursday (4-5pm) at Aldergrove Youth Centre.
