Special Olympics Charity Donation
Lucy Best, double bronze medal winner in the recent Special Olympic World Winter Games in South Korea, returned to her “old schoolagain this week, to receive a cheque on behalf of the charity for the Special Olympics Annual Collection Day.
Since her last visit to the school, Lucy has had dinner in the Mayor’s Parlour in Lisburn and met with the Taosaich in Dublin. She now fronts the Charity Event for the Special Olympics which will benefit thousands of athletes as they compete in the Games.
Recently Lucy was quoted as saying, “Winning bronze at the Special Olympics World Winter Games was the proudest moment in my life. Volunteering to collect on the Special Olympics Annual Collection Day will help other athletes in Ulster to realise their dreams.”
A cheque for £102 was presented to Lucy by the Deputy Head Boy, Conor Reid, and Head Girl, Shannon Moses. This money had been raised by pupils of the school through a non-uniform day before Easter.
