Stepping Back in Time

During the summer, past pupil, David Adams and his wife, Janice, visited the College whilst on holiday from Canada. After his visit, David sent us the following letter:

“What a great walk down memory lane today as I visited Crumlin Secondary for the first time in over 20 years. Everything was so big when I went there as an 11 year old in 1971. Now it all seems smaller. But the familiarity is still there. It was as if I'd stepped back in time. Everything was still where it was, except for the new additions to the facility.

Walking into the old gym brought a flood of great memories. Gym class, lunch meals, basketball games, to name the most notable. It was in that gym that Mr. Mc Avoy taught me and a group of boys to play basketball. We went on to win almost all our games on our way to Mid Antrim league winners and semi finalists in the Ulster Cup. That love of basketball kept me playing well into my 40's in Canada.

Most of all I'm grateful for the great educational foundation the school gave me on my way to a bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Toronto and Tyndale Seminary.

Thanks to all of the staff, past and present, you should never underestimate the impact you're having on a life!”

We wish David and Janice all the best for the future and thank them for taking time out of their holiday to “come home”.
