The Joys of Spring

This year Crumlin Flower Club held their annual charity event in Crumlin Integrated College on Wednesday 20 March.  Traditionally, this takes the form of a flower demonstration and once again we were not disappointed as Mrs Carmel Burns from Lifford in Co Donegal, enthralled an audience of over 200 people with her marvellous array of floral arrangements and good humour! These arrangements were raffled at the end of the evening much to the delight of the audience.

The Chairperson of the Club, Mrs Liz Williamson, welcomed everyone to the evening and thanked the large audience for their continuing support. This year the chosen charity was the NI Hospice, and a cheque for £14000 was handed over to Mrs Deidre Melley from the Hospice. Mrs Melley explained how the money would be used to further the work of the NI Hospice in Northern Ireland.

Light refreshments kindly donated by Mrs Jackie Mitchell, the Tesco community champion of Tesco, Crumlin, were very much appreciated.

In her closing remarks the Chairperson thanked the staff of Crumlin Integrated College, and especially the caretaker Miss Tina Williamson, for their help and support, and also the audience, for making the evening  a huge success.

Crumlin Flower Club meets in the Community centre on the last Tuesday of every month. New members are always welcome.
