Year 12 River Study

Earlier in the term, young geographers from CIC visited the Colin Glen Forest Park, in Belfast, to conduct a river study. This Year our GCSE geography pupils had the great opportunity to work alongside other Year 12 pupils from Priory Integrated College in Holywood. Pupils entered the river at different locations in order to collect primary data and investigate how river features change along the long profile of a river. Pupils measured the width and depth of the river channel, the velocity and load size. Many geographical skills were developed during their collection of data and they were able to apply what they had learned in the classroom into practice in the field. Well done Year 12 and thanks once again to the fantastic field officer at the Colin Glen who ensured we all kept our feet dry!
